“The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”— Kurt Vonnegut (via biitumen)
“Once the storm is over you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”— Haruki Murakami (via girlmeetsdream)
You’ll be 5 months next week and we’ve started you on some basic foods. Thus far, you have experienced rice cereal, peach, watermelon, and butternut squash from the garden. I made peas and applesauce today as well and its just waiting in the freezer to be eaten. We’ll try those in a few days. I’m interested to discover which foods you prefer. I love that every day is a new adventure with you.
